Christopher Ridgeway: Reflections on 2021 Memorial Day
As the CEO of Stone Clinical Laboratories, I don’t have much time to rest, so it’s good to have a day off to reflect on the true significance of Memorial Day.
Unfortunately this can be lost on many.
It’s a day to thank and remember those for their service. In many instances they paid the ultimate price so we could live safely with the freedoms we take for granted.
What sacrifices would you be prepared to make for others so that they can have a better life?
In the 20th century, millions died in two world wars and millions other in other wars. War is still happening around us today and we’re also still dealing with COVID-19.
No one could have imagined the damage it wreaked or the extent of it. We may never know the true cost of it. It’s just been so devastating in so many ways.
Are we even at the stage where we can say there’s light at the end of the tunnel? Every time it appears as though things improve, they then take a turn for the worst.
Hopefully we can get through this.
If we can take anything from Memorial Day, it’s that if we’re all selfless and all prepared to do what we can to help others, we can get through things. Together we can accomplish anything.
